We photograph athletes on our Virtual Reality set.  It adds a little magic to our system.  People on the set only see the green, blue, gray, or white screen---no designs, nothing but a solid color.  Once our powerful servers remove the athlete from the background, allowing you to replace the green background with your choice of background as you select your portrait package.  It seems almost magical as you shop for the ideal image--you can view your images in front of countless background choices.  Just click on a background choice, and it slips right behind your gymnast.  It is fun to use.

The floor we use on our Virtual Reality set is the quintessential blue gymnastics floor.  It is universally recognized as a component of the sport.  The blue floor will not be replaced in your prints.  It is the "anchor" that keeps your gymnast from "floating" in a full-length replacement backdrop.  The Chromakey process (the name for the green screen process) is very complex.  An automated system that replaces everything but the gymnast leaves him or her totally disconnected from the new background and leaves you with a print that looks cheesy (to say the least).

If you absolutely have to have images with the floor removed, we can do that manually.  We then drop your gymnast into a background, and manually do the "tricks of the trade" to "anchor" your gymnast to the new background.  A significant amount of artist's time is required to make the full-length replacements work, so there is an extra $35 charge for each gymnast/background combination you wish us to create for you.  Alternatively, you might consider ordering one of our extraction-style posters (NextLevel, SOLO, RAGE, or Spotlight Poster) or a Digital Painting.  These may give you the look you want.

Even though our Virtual Reality set can have a blue, green, white, black, or gray background, 90% of the time we use a green backdrop.  If you have green in your leotard, that color will be replaced along with the background.  To preserve the green in the leotard, one of our artists can manually extract your gymnast from the background (at extra cost).  To avoid any extra costs, be sure you select a leotard to wear on portrait day that does NOT contain green (or whatever color our VR background will be)  for best results.  If your team leotard contains green, we will work with your coach/gym owner to minimize the problem in posing/lighting.  If you have questions, please ask before arriving on the set for your session.
